Corporate Influence
Nike's influences stretch from its (sometimes criticized) production systems to fashions in themselves while along the way developing technologies (gimmick and functional alike). Their advertisement campaigns often incorporate new sporting ideology, which often involve sponsored athletes like Tiger Woods, Ronaldinho and Michael Jordan.

Nike is also well known for its strong sponsorship agreements with athletes, leagues and federations, as well as many of the world's football (soccer) clubs and national teams, including Juventus, F.C. Barcelona, Manchester United, FC Porto, Brazil, Portugal, and the United States to produce their equipment. In early 2006 Nike signed a sponsorship contract with the Indian Cricket Team reported to be over $90 million, rumored to be the highest amount the company has ever paid for such a contract.[citation needed]

Timeline
[edit]
The 1960s
1962
Phil Knight drafts a thesis paper at Stanford University in which he asserts that low-priced athletic shoes made in Japan could compete with more expensive footwear made in Germany. After earning his MBA, Knight travels to Japan, where he meets with executives from Onitsuka Tiger and persuades them to make Knight's company, Blue Ribbon Sports, the distributor of Tiger brand footwear for the western United States.
1964
Knight sends samples of Tiger footwear to University of Oregon track coach Bill Bowerman, for whom Knight ran middle distances while an undergraduate. Bowerman suggests that he and Knight become partners, with Bowerman to provide endorsement clout as well as footwear design ideas. The two shake hands and each pledge $500 to start the new venture.
1965
Jeff Johnson, a former track rival of Knight's, joins as the company's first full-time salesman. He sells shoes out of the back of his van to high schoolers at track meets.
1966
Johnson opens the company's first retail outlet in Santa Monica, California. Knight and Bowerman convert their handshake agreement into a formal, written agreement.
1967
Knight and Bowerman incorporate Blue Ribbon Sports, creating BRS, Inc.
1969
With annual sales approaching $300,000, Knight resigns as a professor at Portland State University to devote himself full-time to BRS, Inc.
[edit]
The 1970s
1970
Bowerman experiments with rubber spikes, pouring a liquid rubber compound into his wife's waffle iron, which led to the creation of the 'waffle' sole.
1971
Knight begins development of a new athletic footwear brand. A graphic design student at Portland State University named Carolyn Davidson is hired by Knight to design the new brand, which is referred to as a Swoosh.

Along with the new brand, BRS, Inc. needs a name for its new line of footwear. Dozens of suggestions, including Knight's favorite "Dimension Six," are rejected until Jeff Johnson dreams up the name Nike, the Greek goddess of victory.
1972
The first Nike products, adorned with the Swoosh, are delivered to athletes competing in Eugene, Oregon for the US Olympic Track & Field trials.
1973
American record-holder Steve Prefontaine becomes the first major track athlete to wear Nike shoes.
1974
The Waffle Trainer is introduced, quickly becoming the best-selling training shoe in the U.S.
1977
Nike print ad with the tag "There is no finish line" is introduced.
1978
Tennis 'bad boy' John McEnroe is signed by Nike to an endorsement contract.
1979
Nike's Air technology patented by inventor M. Frank Rudy is introduced in the Tailwind running shoe. Gas-filled plastic membranes are inserted into the sole of running shoes to provide cushioning.
[edit]
The 1980s
1980
Nike completes an initial public offering of 2,377,000 shares of Class B common stock on December 2.
1981
BRS, Inc. merges into Nike, Inc. on December 31, and the company officially becomes known as Nike, Inc.
1982
Dan Wieden and Dave Kennedy start their own advertising agency, Wieden+Kennedy, taking with them the Nike account on April 1. In October, Nike airs its first national television ad during the New York Marathon.
1982
The Air Force 1 basketball shoe becomes the first Nike court shoe to make use of the Air technology.
1984
Nike signs Michael Jordan to an endorsement contract. The first model of his signature shoe, the Air Jordan, originally is banned by the NBA, drawing a tremendous amount of publicity. The introduction of the Air Jordan shoe was a key event in Nike's successful development.
1986
Corporate revenues surpass $1 billion for the first time.
1987
The Nike Air Max shoe is introduced, which uses a much larger Air cushioning unit, and for the first time is visible at the side of the midsole. This was the first of many generations of Air Max-branded technologies. A television ad featuring the Beatles' song "Revolution" was the first time that a song performed by the Beatles was used in a TV ad.
1988
Nike introduces its "Just Do It" slogan, a phrase from Zen philosophy.
1989
Nike begins its Bo Knows ad campaign, which becomes a part of the national culture for the next few years.
[edit]
The 1990s
1990
The first Niketown store opens in downtown Portland.

Nike opens its world headquarters in unincorporated Washington County, just west of Portland, on 74 acres (0.3 km˛) of land.
1993
Nike introduces Reuse-A-Shoe, which collects athletic shoes, separates and grinds them up into Nike Grind, used in the making of athletic courts, tracks and fields.
1994

1996
Nike signs Tiger Woods soon after he gives up his amateur golf status.

Nike causes controversy with its advertising campaign during the Summer Olympics in Atlanta which features the slogan, "You Don't Win Silver — You Lose Gold." Nike's use of this slogan draws harsh criticism from many sources, including several former Olympic silver and bronze medalists.
1998
After pressure from lobbying groups Nike and other companies publicly disclose their worldwide factory locations, a first for the garment industry.

Phil Knight formally commits Nike to strict standards for manufacturing facilities used by Nike, including: minimum age; air quality; mandatory education programs; expansion of microloan program; factory monitoring; and enhanced transparency of Nike's corporate social responsibility practices.
1999
Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike, dies on Dec. 24 at age 88.
[edit]
The 2000s
2000
Nike Shox cushioning/support system is introduced, initially worn by Vince Carter and others on the US Olympic basketball team.
2002
NikeGO launches, a grassroots initiative to increase physical activity among youths aged 9-15.

Rap star Nelly releases a chart topping song about Air Force Ones, a brand of Nike shoes.
2003
Nike acquires once-bankrupt rival Converse for $305 million on July 9.

For the first time in the company's history, international sales exceed USA sales, as Nike continues to develop into a global company.

Nike is named "Advertiser of the Year" by the Cannes Advertising Festival, the first company to earn that honor twice (also 1994) in the festival's 50-year history.
2004
Phil Knight steps down as CEO and President of Nike, but continues as chairman. Knight is replaced by William D. Perez as CEO of Nike, effective Dec. 28.

Nike creates the Exeter Brands Group, a wholly owned subsidiary for athletic footwear and apparel brands for lower price points. Brands include Starter, Team Starter, Asphalt, Shaq and Dunkman.

Annual revenues exceed $12.3 billion.

In June, Chinese animator Zhu Zhiqianq, of Xiao Xiao fame, files a lawsuit against Nike for plagiarizing his cartoon stickmen in their commercials. Nike representatives deny the accusations, claiming that the stickman figure lacks originality, and is public domain. Zhu eventually wins the lawsuit, and Nike is ordered to pay $36,000 to the cartoonist.
2005
Nike reports annual revenue for fiscal year 2005 (ending May 31) of $13.7 billion, a 12% increase over the previous fiscal year.

Nike comes under fire from independent music fans and apologizes for their use of an easily identifiable Minor Threat album cover slightly modified into a promotional tool for their line of skateboarding shoes.
2006

William Perez left Nike voluntarily on January 23, 2006. Perez said in the statement that he and Knight "weren't entirely aligned on some aspects of how to best lead the company's long-term growth. It became obvious to me that the long-term interests of the company would be best served by my resignation."

Mark Parker replaces Perez as CEO. Parker, joined Nike in 1979 and is considered the visionary behind the Nike Air franchise and many other innovations, Nike said, and one of the key executives leading the company's long-term strategic planning~!
Nike Inc. filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Adidas-Salomon AG on February 16 2006, claiming its archrival makes shoes using elements of Nike's SHOX cushioning technology.

30.kolo francuske lige....

Slibe.com - Free Image Picture Photo Hosting Service

Pau-Orthez – Strasbourg 64:89
Le Mans – Toulon 69:76
Le Havre – Asvel 77:67
Rouen – Brest 85:76

Nancy – Chalon 78:69 (Julian 31, Zianveni 19 / Cox 18)
Clermont – Bourg 76:73 (Darrigand 18, Tucker 14 / Torbert 24)
Dijon – Gravelines 77:72 (Bennett 15, Baxter 15 / Adomaitis 21)
Paris – Cholet 66:61 (Richardson 20, Samnick 15 / Wilson 26)
Reims – Roanne 93:86 (Bradford 20, Brown 18 / Spencer 19)

AND 1

LeBron James

Malo(više) o LeBronu !!!

LeBron James was born on December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio. His mother, Gloria James, was only 16 at the time. His biological father, Anthony McClelland, was an ex-con uninterested in being a parent. Gloria raised LeBron on her own, and to this day he goes by her last name.

Life was often a struggle for LeBron and his mother. Gloria battled personal problems during much of his childhood. Some of those were brought on by the death of her mother, who passed away when LeBron was an infant. Bouncing between retail and accounting jobs, Gloria was never able to land steady work, and she and LeBron moved from apartment to apartment. The pair got to know all the seedier neighborhoods of Akron, a city of more than 200,000 located less than a hour south of Cleveland
From an early age, LeBron showed tremendous instincts for basketball. Gloria gave him a miniature hoop and ball when he was an infant, and he amused himself for hours each day with the toys. LeBron also had the genes necessary to spawn a long-limbed basketball phenom. Though Gloria stands only 5-5, she has relatives who are much taller.

The strain of the Jameses’ nomadic lifestyle began to take its toll when LeBron entered elementary school. Embarrassed by his home life, he didn’t make friends easily. And thought he wanted to do well in school, focusing on his studies was difficult. He found an outlet for his emotions and intelligence in sports. Basketball and football were his favorites. By now LeBron had developed into a superb athlete. In addition to his natural speed, quickness and strength, he could think his way around the court or gridiron. His hero was Michael Jordan, and he patterned his hoops game after his idol’s. LeBron liked taking it to the hole, as well as launching jumpers, but he took a special delight in distributing the basketball to his teammates
For LeBron, another advantage of living with the Walkers was his friendship with Frankie Jr. The two ran with four other boys—Sian Cotton, Dru Joyce III, Willie McGee and Romeo Travis. Together they formed a terrific team on the basketball court. On Sunday nights they gathered at the Akron Jewish Community Center, where Keith Drambot, the former head coach at Central Michigan University, put them through their paces.

LeBron and Dru, who played point guard, became extremely close friends. In fact, when LeBron was 12, he spent most of that summer living with Joyce’s family.
The Fighting Irish opened the 2002-03 season after Thanksgiving, at home against Wellston. With 2,000 spectators crammed into the SVSM gym, LeBron led his team to a a 46-10 lead before a storm literally turned out the lights on the game. The following night, the Fighting Irish exacted their revenge against George Junior Republic, employing a devastating full-court press that keyed a 101-40 blowout. LeBron was fantastic, posting 21 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

LeBron James, 2001 Student Sports
Less than two weeks later SVSM registered another satisfying victory, defeating Oak Hill 65-45. With Dick Vitale and Bill Walton doing the game for ESPN2, LeBron enjoyed another big night, going for 31 points and 13 rebounds. A staggering 1.67 million households tuned into the contest.

SVSM won four more before LeBron’s birthday in December. Among those who wished a happy 18th to him were Allen Iverson and Jerome Bettis. But problems soon developed. To celebrate her son’s birthday, Gloria secured a bank loan and bought him a Hummer H2 (base price $50,000), complete with three televisions. The gift caused a huge controversy. SVSM and the Ohio High School Athletic Association considered suspending LeBron. The media, meanwhile, launched a national debate that questioned him, his mother and the wisdom of foregoing college for the riches of the NBA.

LeBron and the Fighting Irish, however, kept right on chugging. SVSM traveled to Los Angeles to square off at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion against Mater Dei High School, in another ESPN2 broadcast. Billed as a matchup between LeBron and D.J. Strawberry, a forward headed for Maryland and the son of former big-league slugger Darryl Strawberry. In an entertaining game, the Fighting Irish won 64-58. Though he missed all nine of his 3-point attempts, LeBron still managed to score 24.

A month later LeBron found himself in hot water again, this time for accepting two retro NBA worth $845 from a sports store. The OHSAA acted with little hesitation and rescinded his eligibility. But LeBron fired back, hiring lawyer Fred Nance to get the ban lifted. Nance requested an injunction in the Summit County Common Pleas Court, and judge James R. Williams ultimately reinstated LeBron. The ruling came just in time for him to play in the Prime Time Shoot Out in Trenton. He showed no ill-affects from the legal tussle, scoring 52 points in a 78-52 shellacking of West Chester of Los Angeles.

The entire episode grabbed national headlines. People who had never heard of LeBron—indeed, people who had no interest in high school hoops—suddenly were familiar with the details of his life. It was at this moment that the 18-year-old transcended his sport and passed into the realm of popular culture.

From there LeBron tried to concentrate on basketball, and did a pretty good job of it. SVSM entered the state playoffs with just one loss, then returned to the Division II final against Kettering Alter. In front of a tournament-record 18,454 fans at Ohio State's Value City Arena, the Irish held a slight lead heading into the fourth quarter. That's when LeBron took over—he scored his team's first nine points of the final stanza to spark SVSM to a 40-36 victory. Pushing their record to 24-1, the Irish reclaimed the state title and tightened their grasp on the mythical national high school hoops championship awarded by USA Today.

Dick Vitale book
Next on LeBron's agenda were the 26th annual McDonald's All-American High School Boys Basketball Game at Gund Arena and the EA Sports Roundball Classic in Chicago. The McDonald's game has produced 15 top overall picks in the NBA draft, which sets up another likely headline-making moment for LeBron. As the league’s surefire number-one pick, he along with the rest of the world will learn the location of the next stop on his basketball odyssey at the draft lottery.

Among the teams hoping for a lucky bounce of the ping-pong ball were Cleveland, Denver, Memphis and Toronto. Some even suggested that the Cavs dealt Andre Miller knowing the trade would weaken their club and thus improve their chances of landing the ultimate hometown hero in the draft. If that was indeed the team’s strategy, it worked. Cleveland got the top pick and grabbed LeBron. Though his contract with the Cavs was slotted in by the league’s rookie salary structure, he had no worries about money. In fact, estimates put his endorsement deals (with the likes of Nike, Coca-Cola and Upper Deck) at $100 million.

The lights glared, the expectations rose and the pressure intensified in LeBron’s first season with the Cavs. Of course, he had been performing under similar conditions most of his life. But he was also cashing a paycheck every couple of weeks and taking mega-dollar endorsement fees to the bank for the first time. Critics were concerned that this windfall might rob LeBron of perspective and hinder his ascent to the stratosphere of pro hoops.

But the teenager remained focused. A team player from the opening of training camp, he averaged 21 points, six assists and more than five rebounds per game. In turn, he helped lift Cleveland from cellar-dweller to playoff contender. The Cavs ended the season at 35-47, a marked improvement over the previous year’s performance.

Cleveland also got solid contributions from Carlos Boozer and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, both of whom provided muscle in the paint. The Cavs juggled the roster midway through the campaign, sending Ricky Davis and Chris Mihm to Boston for Eric Williams and Tony Battie. Jeff McInnis was another in-season pick-up who made an impact. Cleveland battled the Celtics tooth-and-nail for the final playoff spot in the East, but was egded out by a single game.

LeBron was the number one reason for the team's turnaround. After getting his feet wet early in November, he strung together 11 games with double-digit scoring, and finished the month with a 33-point, 16-rebound effort against the Memphis Grizzlies. LeBron continued his fine play through December and January, then suited up in the Rookie Challenge Game during the All-Star Weekend. He led the newcomers with 33 points, but the sophs won the contest behind Amare Stoudemire.

Heading down the stretch in '04—when many rookies hit the proverbial wall—LeBron played perhaps his best ball of the year. In late March against the New Jersey Nets, he exploded for 41 points and 13 assists in a 107-104 victory. He posted two more double-doubles in April.

Those types of performances stayed in voters' minds when it came time for Rookie of the Year balloting. Though Carmelo Anthony also had a big season, LeBron beat out his buddy and walked away with the hardware. Along the way, he also accepted an invitation to represent the U.S. on the 2004 Olympic men’s basketball team.

At 19, LeBron was the youngest member of the squad in Greece. Again, he displayed the type of dignity and class that veterans twice his age are known for. While Melo was complaining about his lack of playing time, he kept quiet and did whatever coach Larry Brown asked of him. This was saying a lot on the dysfunctional American squad. In a frustrating couple of weeks in Athens, the Dream Teamers could do no better than the bronze. Angry fans back home complained that the U.S. was nothing more than a collection of spoiled superstars who didn't understand the team concept.

The sailing wasn't much smoother for LeBron during the 2004-05 season. Before the campaign started, the Cavs got awful news when Boozer jumped ship and headed for the big money offered by the Utah Jazz. Cleveland tried to make up for the loss with several additions, including Drew Gooden, Tractor Traylor, Eric Snow and Lucious Harris, but the burden most nights fell on LeBron.

He responded with a wonderful season, improving in every significant statistical category. No one in the NBA logged more minutes, and he ranked third in the league in scoring (27.2 ppg), third in steals (2.2 a game) and sixth in passing (7.2 apg). There were some games when LeBron was simply too much for opponents to handle. By increasing his range and accuracy from the outside, teams had to respect his perimeter game, which opened more opportunities for him and his teammates. LeBron posted four double-doubles on the season, and pumped in 40 or more points on five occassions, including a 56-point outburst against the Toronto Raptors.

But he and Silas saw eye-to-eye less and less frequently as the year progressed. Cleveland was fighting for the last playoff spot in the East, and player and coach differed on how the Cavs would get there. As usually happens in pro sports, the star won out. Silas was canned, as the team finished 42-40 and out of the post-season.

For the first time in his young NBA career, LeBron has taken a hit. Most agree that Silas is a good man who got a raw deal. Of course, Cleveland's motives became more apparent when they hired Detroit assistant Mike Brown as the club's new head coach, and then tried to lure Brown away from the Pistons to be team president. Still, LeBron has been cast as the culprit in Silas's departure.

Repairing his reputation will have a lot to do with his performance on the court. Overshadowed in the Silas situation was the fact that LeBron carried an undermanned within inches of the playoffs. The Cavs are now attempting to find the one or two supporting stars who can put them over the top. They've already signed multi-talented guard Larry Hughes. Another similar role player is probably necessary.

Meanwhile, LeBron continues to do many of the quiet things that show he has the potential to be a truly special player. He answers every question thrown at him, keeps his nose clean off the court and lends his support to plenty of charitable causes, including a generous donation earmarked for the rennovation of an old Akron court in the Ed Davis Community Center where he played as a kid.

After only two years in the pros, this much is certain: LeBron’s story will remain among the most-followed in the history of sports

There’s nothing LeBron can’t do, at least on the amateur level. In the pros, his challenges will be more complex, his competition more experienced. At approximately 6-7, 240—he has never divulged his vital stats—he has the body to survive what his sure to be a tough rookie season. His quickness and strength are off the charts, his court vision and ballhandling skills are highly developed, and his rebounding and defense aren’t far behind.

Scouts agree that LeBron’s passing ability is nothing short of extraordinary. He not only sees the whole court, but anticipates the movement of teammates and defenders. The weakest part of LeBron’s game is his outside jumper. His range is excellent, but he must become more consistent on the perimeter. It will be interesting to see how his shooting changes with the arduous NBA schedule.

LeBron’s willingness to share the ball and get others involved is one of the things coaches love about him. His unselfishness underscores his innate understanding of basketball and how fully he embraces the fundamentals. It also leads many to believe that LeBron will be extremely coachable and earn him big minutes from the moment he dons an NBA jersey.

Winning appears to be LeBron’s ultimate motivation. He has captured championships at every level, and others naturally gravitate to him. Interestingly, it took Kobe Bryant—the man to whom LeBron will most frequently be compared—two years before he got a full sense of where he stood in the league, and two more years to earn the trust and respect of teammates. Kobe is just now beginning to understand what’s required of a team leader.

If that’s the yardstick LeBron must measure up to, he’ll happily deal with it. It means that people are already putting him on the same level as the NBA’s greatest high-school-to-the-pros success story. It also lets LeBron aim high—something he loves to do. Kobe got his first championship ring in his fourth season. You get the feeling that, if LeBron has any say in the matter, he’ll do it in three.

Pravila igre

Vrijeme se mjeri štopericom i mjeri se vrijeme stvarne igre. To znači da kada se igra zaustavi zbog nekog prekršaja zaustavlja se i sat. Zbog toga košarkaške utakmice traju u prosjeku 2 sata.

• Teren dimenzija 29mx15m
• Dužina utakmice 4 četvrtine po 12 minuta - NBA, 4 četvrtine po 10 minuta - FIBA
• Linija za tri poena na 7.24m - NBA, 6.25m - FIBA
• Broj ličnih grešaka je 6 - NBA, 5 - FIBA
• Odbrambene 3 sekunde u reketu
Napad i odbrana
